Yaaay!!! Thanks Scott. Glad you think so. And can you believe it.. I have been reading your newsletters for sometime now and until I read your newsletter on you being on lighbox expo. I had no clue it was you. I had watched the video when it was up.

Oh wow! I know Bobby Chiu (founder of Lightbox) since the 90s. I hate I missed it this year but life has changed a little bit so it wasn’t in the cards. Also, traveling is tiring :D

That's so awesome. I have had schoolism subscription for around 3 years now and have probably attended all the webinars and talks they host. Bobby is just such an inspiration and always so generous

Back at you man. During thanksgiving we were in birmingham for .05 seconds. Had we been there for 1.5 seconds I’d contacted you

I don't think I could draw people that quickly and confidently, but I kind of want to try. I share your social media strategy!

When drawing fast, I focus on a

story (ex: she’s got a hangover and just received some bad news),

textures/patterns - so If she has a sweater on and it’s fuzzy, I focus on the fuzz and I try to make appealing patterns with it.

They eyes. I try to put a lot in a person’s eyes. To help tell the story

The rest is muscle memory that just takes intentional practice. :)

Hope that helps and here’s to hanging out in a few weeks hopefully!

Is there a way to generate drills with still images? If you aren’t in a people watching situation?

Oh yes. Yes indeed. Do a google search for croquis cafe (run by Larry Withers who is awesome). He has timed video sessions that I have done for almost a decade, daily, now. I love it.

FYI: this is a figure drawing site, no clothes allowed. Just so you are aware

I find it fascinating that you sketch on the fly. My husband and I love people watching and I will often take notes (mentally and then in notebooks) about people we see in bars, airports, or wherever for future characters in my stories.

Merry Christmas to you and Heather, Thig. I am so glad your art made its way into my life and I look forward to your work every week. May your season be gentle and love-filled.

Thank you. It’s my goal to have 52 articles done in April (when I started writing and drawing). If the fates allow, I’ll write another 52 after that
