I know I'm meant to sympathise (and I do) with what must have been a traumatic experience, but gawdamn those images are funny.

Thig's avatar

Oh… if you can’t laugh at Death’s face then what is life?

Elaine R. Frieman's avatar

Does Alabama have sheep? 🤔🤣 🐑

Thig's avatar

Violated ones yes :D

Elaine R. Frieman's avatar

Like Yorkshire then 🤣🤣🤣 😉

Haha that Jabba art was especially great. Always a pleasure to read your work- and I thoroughly appreciated the Alabama joke.

Thig's avatar

Thank you my friend, I worked very hard on that jabba piece, too and really am proud of it. Being that it’s my home state, I love making jabs at it anytime I can. There are tons of great people, places and things to do there and in fact, Alabama is one of the most biodiverse places in America as you can travel one way and be in the mountains or the other and be at the Gulf of Mordor

Yeah we were stationed in Alabama when my husband was in the military and it's, uh... a special place. Full of... interesting people. There were a surprising number of fantastic restaurants in that town though, which made it bearable. And there was a Publix. Lots of outdoor stuff to do and we weren't far from the GULF OF MEXICO so sometimes we went to the beach. It's not ALL bad but certainly deserves the mockery you provided.

This is SO good! I especially like the video (did Dr. Wife film that?) and the guy saying all those nice things likes "Looking good", "He's young", "This is fine" - how reassuring is that? Also: his professional enthusiasm! This man loves his job! I've heard medical professionals in the heart business referring to themselves as 'plumbers'. That's basically what they do: fix the plumbing.

I also like your 'Down the rancor hole' very much! I'm too cheap (Dutch!) to buy it off you; so I stole it from here and am using it as a wallpaper on my laptop now.

First, I put that link out there as a feeler to see if I’d get any bites, so it’s just a test and thank you for mentioning you saw it. Also, I appreciate you watching the video. Did you catch the part where my heart doc said Heather saved my life by administering an aspirin? That’s part of part 4 (I like things in 3 parts but since Feb is heart month and all, 4 weeks it is).

My heart doc, Dr. Birnbuam here in Austin is amazing…just very loud :D (but hey, I don’t miss anything he says). He’s been super kind to both heather and I and he’s watched over me with a caring manner and appearance for 3 years now. We need more folks like him for sure.

How did you make having a heart attack funny? Seriously thought glad you kept a sense of humor and glad you seem physically ok. (Not gonna mention the mental trauma. It’s obvious you haven’t recovered that part. Haha) great article, great art and great public service. 😊😊🫀🫀🫀🫀🏩🏩🏩🏩❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Thig's avatar

My upside is my downside. I use humor to deflect hard feelings. Seriously in a zombie apocalypse if you need to laugh as you’re getting your brains eaten? I’m your 🧟‍♂️

RobinPlays's avatar

Awesome! In a zombie apocalypse, I’ll be running! 🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️

Thig's avatar

I’ll be running, too. Running jokes :D

(If that ever happened, I’d give it the whole “heave ho” to try to survive the apocalypse just to see how far I could make it. I would, definitely, keep the mood lively.

RobinPlays's avatar

I don’t think you are subscribed to me! I try for weekly but don’t always manage it. If you look at my follow list, there’s a ton of cool guys who write fantastic stuff. It blows me away!

Thig's avatar

What!? I thought I was. Arrggg.. Substack fails here

RobinPlays's avatar

No worries! I’m not the kind of gal that says hey I’ll subscribe to you if you subscribe to me…but if you love play throughs and a few game book reviews and bad art and photo shoots with terrain and minis( just an excuse to play with toys) feel free to subscribe. It would be great to see your comments. 😊

RobinPlays's avatar

I expect to survive since I read tons of zombie apocalypse books and zombie games. lol lol when Covid started I went into apocalypse mode and told my daughters what to do. I especially stress toilet paper. Did they listen to mom? Nope, a week later one was crying because she was out and the other was crying cuz she had to buy RV TP which melts in your hands and is expensive. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ kids!

Thig's avatar

Yeah are you TT only or video games? I love zombie games but mainly only the ones I can play on my steam deck. That one where you can pick a GPS spot and it’ll generate that area for you (like say your street address) and make it a zombie survival game sounds great, but I don’t know anyone that’s playing it first hand and let’s just say I’ve got a Steam Video Game backlog that could wrap the earth 5 times

RobinPlays's avatar

You have a Steam deck??? Awesome. I want one! I play all games, board, video and TTRPG. Fantasy, war games, Dnd, sci fi almost all of it. There is a group of players on here for solo RPG and we all write about our play through reports on the games. I draw some of my own illustrations or set up some minis on a board and do “photo shoots” for my newsletters. I have a game going for the Walking Dead TT RPG game. Soooo good and can get pretty dark too.

Thig's avatar

Um… I need this NerdStack list immediately. I love game write ups (seriously, crazy passion of mine). Am I not on your newsletter? Or how often do you pump them out, I need this in my life. Walking dead fun fact trivia:

-In S1 E1 where Carl is overrun by zombies in Atlanta and his horse becomes a tasty snack. Right there where they filmed was where the Atlanta Flickr Photo Group used to meet and photos of model setups, they had a bomb ass sandwich shop there and it was my first experience with an “beer honesty bulletin board”. You poured your on beer and at the end of the night you paid your tab based on your honesty. When Andrew Lincoln went marching through there and I saw that I was like “holy shit!”

-The actor Carl attended Auburn Univeristy which…if I’ve got to root for college football, I guess it’s them. My ex wife’s father was the head of the English department there (but he retired after Carl was there). Also my ex-FIL was also associated with people at the univeristy that helped with Gandalf’s CGI robe in Return of the King.

-Carl’s love interest Astrid? Yeah go watch Adult Swim’s “Too Many Cooks” :)

And yes I have a steam deck. I literally DO NOT PLAY GAMES on my pc now, and am a snob about it if it’s not “Steam Deck ready”. It makes for delightful ways to pass the time when flying across the pond or when your wife has a doctor’s convention and you’re there just kinda…there :D (my biggest hangup is how so many games want you connected or it doesn’t work… looking at you D4 and Path of Exile 2)

Thig's avatar

What haven’t you written this story as a Substack article????

RobinPlays's avatar

Never thought about that since I focus on solo gaming here. 😊😊😊

RobinPlays's avatar

In fact they laughed at me when I said this is gonna get bad. We’re gonna get locked down. And I’m not even a survivalist kind of person although I’m rethinking that lifestyle now!

Elaine R. Frieman's avatar

Obvs great and educational. The procedure sounds scared. Eek!

Thig's avatar

Well the versed they gave me put me in a state of I don’t care. But I could feel the wire slither over my chest and into my heart. Nothing hurt it was just a strange and weird push on me. Make sure your hunky Yorkshire Hubs gets regular checkups and make sure he stays away from 🐑

Elaine R. Frieman's avatar

🤣 I will. His dad has multiple heart attacks so it does run in the family unfortunately. 🤞🏻

Elaine R. Frieman's avatar

The sheep thing, not sure I can influence 🙈🤪

Thig's avatar

Hahahahha. Also just as some information to shove in your brain. They did not see my heart attack until they ran bloodwork. Since your man familial heart issues, better to arm yourself with knowledge and err on caution for his next checkup.

The sheep part? Well…

Mike Rohde's avatar

Thanks for the narrative, Thig. Scary but educational for us!

Thig's avatar

Wow hello Mr sketch man!!! I have your book and have for forever. I love it and thank you for being you as well as reading!!

Hello! Your work here is great stuff, I love that sweet, sweet blend of sarcastic comments and visuals!
