I am unopposed to that, down the road. I am going to one day write about the college date from hell. It’s a doozie. Enjoyed your articles and I always thought Columbus was one of the prettiest towns in Ga (I used to go to a creative conference there as well as I’ve lived in Atlanta and Birmingham.)
I live in West Yorkshire (with a Yorkshire husband) but my accent is a sort of muddle but mostly still American. I work from London from time to time (but mostly work from home hermit). I enjoy London and Paris too! 🫶🏻🥰
As regards the preference of ice cream over aerobic exercise, have you ever tagged along with her at work? For a day? (The WHOLE day?) I suspect that once your muscles un-cramp and your mind has a chance to un-numb itself, the first word that floats into focus will be "chocolate". (Okay, maybe that's the second one - right after "ethanol".)
The sharp, playful tone of this piece shines throughout. I loved the line, "I may have let out a masculine man-scream," which perfectly captures the blend of humour and humility. Another great piece.
Thank you Jon, I really didn’t know I had it in me to write (although my wife is very responsible for a lot of this humor particularly the man-scream part). Substack has been so great and great to meet people like you!
This one had all the things. Great read. I love me my Rocky Horror Tim. Must have seen that movie 1000 times at the midnight movies in San Diego and NYC. My favorite though is Molly, Winona and Garofalo. ♥️
Got-damnit you make me laugh! Thank you for all of it. We must be around the same age because I didn't need to look at any of your references and I GOT ALL THE JOKES (my husband would be surprised.) A big tee-hee to Janeane, Molly, and Winona. Also, as I was reading your raccoon graphic, I was so excited to be able to comment with the Washington story about raccoons but, alas, you had it! (I am in Washington.)
You bring me such joy, Thig, in a time when I also have major distrust in humanity.
Oh so you’re 19 too???? (I’m 51 and my wife is 52)
Man I gotta tell you. A yard full of raccoons would bring me so much joy. We have possums and I will be writing an article about briefly adopting several baby possums. That was fun and now Heather and I are full on possum lovers
Yes, 19! (Plus 34.) I haven't really lived in any cockroach areas. However, have a similar bug-attack fear of earwigs. Years ago, I lived in Montana and used a clothes line to dry my clothes. All good, yeah? But one day, I reached into my undergarment drawer and pulled out an item, unaware there was an earwig on it. It latched its little claws into the tip of my forefinger and pinched! Holy hell, I screamed. It literally felt like I was getting shocked and I had to yank it to get it off my finger. Needless to say, I hate those f*ckers.
oh, ugh…we were just having a discussion are they “earwigs” or “silverfish”. They EAT CLOTHES! Between my cat poking holes in my shirt and the surprise silverfish, none of my shirts are hole free
They are definitely two different things. I believe silverfish tend to be in the house and earwigs tend to be outside. Plus, earwigs have the pincers on their hiney. Either way, both are not fun.
My sister lived in a back-to-back apartment college years. The kitchen had a shared wall in the back of the unit with someone else's kitchen and unit on the other side. As you've noted roaches love going to college. The back unit bombed for roaches and the resulting roach ARMY marched en masse into Peggy's kitchen
🤣 Ha! Love this storytelling. 🤩
Hey thank you! I just spent my morning coffee reading your past dating life post! Heather and I could tell some past dating stories! 💀
Haha maybe a guest post is in order someday? 🤣

If it is anything like the stuff you’ve written, I’m sure it would be hilarious. 🤣🫶🏻 I live back in the UK now but Columbus is a lovely town.
Thank you! I try to write and draw funnies in the beautiful hellscape we all live in. Also I was in London this summer. First time ever in the UK! 🇬🇧
I could listen to you guys’ accents for forever! (Also we visited Paris and absolutely loved it. My first time there too.)

Thig you are hilarious!!!! I laughed so loud my dog stopped and stared at me 🤣
oh man, thank you! I appreciate this. My dog stares at me, but mainly because she is hungry :D (seriously thank you!)
Reading this is an immersive experience that dragged me along many roads… in Jesus Sandals ofc.
Why thank you, I’ll let my wife know (as she’s the editor to make sure all this flows correctly)
"Thatthatthatthatthat." Give it a minnit.

Roaches? There's a clip for that.
That tim curry drawing is 🔥
you know I've always struggled with caricatures, but some people have enough distinguishing features (Tim) that really help sell it. Thank you!
Hah hah! This is fast becoming one of my favourite Stacks. Thanks for brightening up my hump day. Cockroaches are indeed horrifying.
Awww thank you Nadine! Here’s something else to brighten your day… the name “Nadine” is one of my favorite sounding names. :)
You are weird. I like this.
You’re weird too! I love it! <3

Haven’t thought of earwigs since I left San Diego. Thanks for the memories 😳
They are beasts.
LOL. I had an apartment infested with those flying cockroaches in college. Do not miss that.
Higher learning shouldn’t come with 🪳

Unrelated but Tim Curry - did you like Legend?
I’ve not seen it but now adding to my list.
You must watch. Not seeing this puts your Gen X card in peril of being revolted.
I mean, I may have seen it and just can’t remember. But Renee, I’ll go do this ASAP!
Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, a goblin based on Keith Richards and a 10’ tall Tim Curry with 3’ horns. What do you have to lose?
Omg I can't believe Legend is 40 years old now 😭 even at the time it was a little cheesy but Tim rocks it as Darkness
how did I miss this? or maybe I did see it and can’t remember. Clue and Muppet Island were two of my fav Tim Curry ones
“I’m a butler, I buttle”
Gotta rewatch Clue. Legend is closer to It, evil clown or the devil.
"Don't you know me ... boy?"
I LOVE this movie. I just watched it the other day. The Darkness and Black Dress scene is the best.
the scenes with Lily & Darkness are AMAZING. I just rewatched them all on youtube. The dress scene is great and - Tangerine Dream!! also Tom who?
Thig, if you watch make sure you see the directors cut. iirc there was some issues at release and the theater version was kind of neutered
